Every year, NWVA selects eight talented high school students (grades 10-12) to serve as our Choral Interns for the following season. Those selected will sing with and be mentored by our professional artists as members of the Chamber Choir and serve as section leaders for the NWVA Youth Choir.

Choral Interns will receive a full tuition scholarship and be paid a quarterly stipend.

There will be 3 audition dates for the 2026-27 season: Sunday, August 30 (1-2pm) at Rose City Park United Methodist Church, Friday, September 11 (3-5pm) at Centennial High School & Saturday, September 12 (9:30-11:30am) at Rose City Park United Methodist Church. We are excited to welcome ALL students grades 8-12 to sing in the NWVA Youth Choir under the direction of Karen Bohart.

Thanks to generous donors, every member of our youth choir will be provided with a 100% tuition scholarship, regardless of prior experience and without an audition.

We will rehearse every Monday night beginning September from 7-8:30 p.m. at Rose City Park United Methodist Church, located at 5830 NE Alameda St. Portland, OR 97213.

We are in the process of bringing the PDX Parents Choir to life, and hope to launch this non-auditioned choral ensemble for parents and their children, as soon as possible!

Do you want to expose your children to the performing arts through an inclusive, supportive, and fun community? Have you ever taken your child to an arts enrichment activity and secretly wished you could join in the fun? This is our concept. The NWVA Chamber Choir is comprised of 16 of the area’s finest vocal professionals, 8 high school Choral Interns and 8 collegiate Choral Scholars. Our 16 professional vocalists serve as Choral Mentors to our high school and collegiate singers, modeling the skills necessary to succeed in the field and providing a support network at a critical time in every young singer’s development. Members of this ensemble must not only be exceedingly strong vocalists and musicians, but should also have a passion for music education and youth mentorship, as this is our primary focus.

Auditions for the 2026-27 season will take place Sunday, August 30 from 2-4pm at Rose City Park United Methodist Church located at 5830 NE Alameda St. in Portland. Additional spots will be made available once all blocks are filled.
